Festa di Radio Onda d’Urto in Brescia

Bsp. NoFx, Anthony B, Sick Tamburo, Buzzcocks, 99 Posse, Baustelle, The Gaslight Anthem)
Folgende Bands habe ich zum Beispiel erleben dürfen: Make Do And Mend, Peter Pan Speedrock, Hot Water Music, Miss Chain And The Broken Heels, Frank Turner und Suicidal Tendencies

Somehow I ended up near Brescia in Italy and while I was there the Festa di Radio Onda d’Urto was going on. This open air event lasts for about two weeks each year. It is not solely music; there are also lots of sales and information booths which generally tend toward left wing and alternative topics and goods. Now back to music, at the festival there was a wide variety of different music styles and many bands covering everything from punk rock, to theater music, ska, reggae and alternative, some were Italian and some international acts. Last year you could get hold of a festival ticket for only 30 Euro and the daily entrance fee was about 10 Euro. The Festa di Radio Onda d’Urto event on the 21st of August 2008 was my first “real” concert in Italy. I was able to see and to take photos from Gerson, Skruigners and Punkreas. I made it back the next year and on the 16th of August 2009 I enjoyed Invasione Degli Omini Verdi and Anti Flag, playing at the big stage. Luckily I also took a detour to the Tenda Blue to see a furious concert of Kamikatze (had to buy the LP right afterwards). On the 27th of August 2009 Rock The Cam was back taking pictures at the Festa di Radio Onda d’Urto, this time of a band called Panico and of Strobo Monsters. But the highlight was the concert of Jello Biafra And The Guantanamo School Of Medicine – I almost cried for my luck. Hopefully I can share with you those concert pictures soon here on your beloved live photo page: Rock The Cam.
Conclusion: Until now the Festa di Radio Onda d’Urto was always great, fair prices, interesting and good music, the toilets might be cleaner but OK. The only confusing thing was when I was there the first time, there were a hell of a lot of police outside, but admittedly also a hell of a lot of strange people also (pushers), but as nobody really cared about me it was fine. In 2010 there are for example following bands on the set list: The Gaslight Anthem, NOFX, Baustelle, Anthony B, 99 Posse, The Buzzcocks, Big D And The Kids Table and Sick Tamburo.
Yeah, August 2011 I was able to make it there again, I really start to love this Festa! Got hold of these bands for example: Make Do And Mend, Peter Pan Speedrock, Hot Water Music, Miss Chain And The Broken Heels, Frank Turner and Suicidal Tendencies.

Line-up:
The Cure, The Stone Roses, Pennywise, Bassnectar, La Vela Puerca, Hot Water Music, The XX, Sportfreunde Stiller, All Shall Perish, Capser, The Bronx, Ed Sheeran, Disco Ensemble, Royal Republic, Bosse, Adept, La Dispute, Bombay Bicycle Club, Jennifer Rostock, Hoffmaestro, Switchfoot, Garbage, Justice, Beardyman, Mumford & Sons, Bonaparte, Blink 182, Rise Against, M83, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Wolfmother, Florence And The Machine, Madsen, Bratze, Dumme Jungs, The Do, Thees Uhlmann & Band, Eagles Of Death Metal, Less Than Jake, The Shins, Bat For Lashes, Lagwagon, K.I.Z., Boy, Kraftklub, M.Ward, Kakkmaddafakka, GusGus, Band Of Skulls, Eastern Conference Champions, The Floor Is Made Of Lava, Turbowolf, Alt-J, Hawk Eyes, Young Guns, Die Ärzte, New Order, Beirut, Fritz Kalkbrenner, The Kooks, Katzenjammer, The Temper Trap, Supershirt, The Mars Volta, LaBrassBanda, Broilers, Steve Aoki, Kettcar, Mad Caddies, Die Antwoord, All The Young, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, Zebrahead, Selah Sue, Mutter, Black Box Revelation.

It’s been a while since the last time I was at a festival which lasted several days and somehow I made it to the Hurricane Festival in the North of Germany (Scheeßel, 70km away from Hamburg). Three days, too many bands and the loved/hated open air festival craziness! The weather was fine for Friday and Saturday, on Sunday it got quite shitty (lots of rain!). Well organized event made by FKP Scorpio and it is one of the biggest festivals in Germany, 73000 tickets were sold and it was sold out in advance. They had some chip thing and this was canceled but it made the impression to me, that it did not really annoy anybody. The rest went well, thanks for the hell lot of people setting up such an event and a special thanks as well to the security, all that I met were really nice and helpful! And thanks as well to the bands, the once I could see and the once I missed.
To cut a long story short: almost high score, only little minus is for the order to the weather god on Sunday, hehehe!

Jahninselfest Regensburg

Fortune was with Rock The Cam, I came across the website of the Jahninselfest in Regensburg (Ratisbon) and what did I see, good line up. And shit, I missed a lot of great bands in the past while surfing the old concert posters. Any way Friday I wasn’t able to go there but on Saturday I drove to Regensburg and was pleased, a totally relaxed open air. The entrance people and securities were I guess all volunteers and relaxed: everything is easy and no stress! The sun was shining, the prices low (8 Euro entrance fee is unbelievable). Following musical highlights have been playing there: Friday with: The Ironic Pirates, Biestig, The Peacocks and Null8sprachrohr and Saturday I was able to take concert pictures and enjoy the gigs from Sunrise Sunday, The Headlines, TV Smith, Skannibal Schmitt and the Spermbirds.

Fast!!Hits!!!

There is a relaxed open air festival in Munich which is called Theatron. It takes place at the Olympiapark and it happens twice a year, once at Whitsun (3 days) and once in the summer (25 days). Different styles of music from mostly „smaller“ bands. Really nice to discover new music and to just hang out for a drink. Important to mention is that the entrance to the Theatron open air festival is for free (I don’t know how they do it, but a big cheers to the people who make this happen). Fantastic sight and as well a good sound, thanks for taking place in an amphitheatre. Here are some band names I was able to catch there: Zombie Nation, The Kabeedies, Kate Mosh, Mediengruppe Telekommander, Blec le Roc, Kreisky, Five!Fast!!Hits!!!, Wilde 13, Tigerbeat, Readymade, Crash Tokio

on3Radio Festival

Hier mal das Line up vom 2008 on3radio festival: Santogold, Schlachthofbronx, Port o’Brien, TV On The Radio, Karo, Bratze, Buraka Som Sistema, Frittenbude, Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip, Demograffics, Wrongkong, Missent To Denmark, Clara Luzia, Uphill Racer, Ghost Rockets, Creme Fresh, Bradley’s H, Cajus, Fiva, Anathallo

In 2008 I was lucky and made it to the on3radio festival in Munich. My impression was a really good one because:
It was sold out quite fast, but inside you did not get the feeling that it is too packed. OK depending on the band and the room, you had to be in before they closed the entrance – which is fair; you had to plan in advance. Everything was running smooth, from getting into the building, to the functions of the shows, to getting food and drinks and so on. The price policy was correct and the sound was great, this might be due to the venue (it is the radio room of the Bavarian Radio). I did not see any dick heads looking for trouble and not for a good concert and the mix of the band was fantastic, it expanded my little horizon. To cut a long story short; if life would be fair I would have been there 2009 again and would go there in the future as well!
