Rock The CamDa durfte ich im Januar 2012 nach New York jetten, was Du Derrick ja schon an den Herman Dune Bildern bemerkt hast. Und was gab es da über’m Teich?
I was lucky to make a trip to New York in January 2012 (what you Sherlock already noticed while looking at the Herman Dune pix) and guess what I found there?
Da hat es Rock The Cam nach New York geschafft und siehe da, wer spielt auf für mich? Herman Dune. Also ab zu Joe’s Pub und Konzert anschauen. War alles ein bisschen komisch, da kam ich 15 Minuten nach dem offiziellen Beginn und wurde dann reinbegleitet. Genau, ganz komisch das! Dann wurde ich an meinem Platz „abgegeben“ und durfte mich einfach nur wundern. Der ganze „Mob“ saß an seinen Tischen und hat vor sich hin gespeist und getrunken. Dazu wurde noch Konzert geschaut. Komisch. Egal, der Sound war druckvoll, auch klar und Herman Dune waren wieder gut. Das war so ein bisschen wie Live DVD schauen, gewöhnungsbedürftig, doch es hat mir gefallen. Und wie ist das für Dich? Live Konzertbilder von Herman Dune direkt aus Joe’s Pub in New York City?
Rock The Cam made it to New York and guess what? I made it as well to get to a Herman Dune show at Joe’s Pub. It was a bit strange, when I came about 15 minutes after the start, somebody went in with me and I got seated! Strange thing. At the show the whole audience was sitting at their places and were eating and drinking, oh yes and as well looking a Herman Dune show. The concert was a bit different for me, but the show was a nice one again. Clear voice, good sound and Herman Dune songs – strange moosic!

Als Appétit Happen fürs neue Nada Surf Album, eine Records Store Day 7″ Single mit zwei Liedern: ”The Moon Is Calling” und “You’re Going To Miss The Wood”, beide in einer Demo Version, welche aber OK sind. Schöner Rock (wird dies noch Alternativ genannt?), mit Schwung und Melodie. Gerade auch auf Tour im Lande, ach ja und die limitierte Platte hat noch einen Download Code dabei.
A new 7“ single by Nada Surf with two songs in a demo version: ”The Moon Is Calling” and “You’re Going To Miss The Wood”. The quality is all right and the music is good melodic rock! The 7” came out on Records Store Day and the the Band Nada Surf is on tour right now, don’t miss them.

Und eine weiterer 7″ vinyl Single, welche hier und jetzt eine kurze Vorstellung bekommt: Wilco mit „I Might“ und auf der B-Seite „I Love My Label„. Die A-Seite mit „I Might“ ist ein Indie gute Laune Gitarren Stück, läuft durch und macht Spaß, läuft noch ein paar Mal durch und macht immer noch Spaß. Die andere Seite mit „I Love My Label“ ist ein Cover von Nick Low. Das klingt nach Amirock, nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht der Überhit. Bin da nicht so bewandert, aber so Tom Petty Schiene gebe ich als Anhaltspunkt. Inklusive Download Code der zwei Lieder.

Another 7″ vinyl single gets free advertisement on Rock The Cam, this time it is Wilco with „I Might“ / „I Love My Label“. The a-side is a nice, groovy good mood guitar indie song, I like it while listening to it the first time and several plays later I still like „I Might„. On the flip is a cover from Nick Low called „I Love My Label“ which is not bad but as well not the hit. Inclusive free mp3 download of both songs, nice.
Ein Januarabend (der 16.te) im kalten New York, hier gab es auf freier Straße meinen ersten Liveauftritt. Und zwar saß an der Kreuzung 7th Ave / W 42nd St am Times Square ein Plastikeimertrommler. Dieser hat den Beat mal ganz ordentlich durchgehauen, doch leider wurde das Open Air Spektakel von der Polizei beendet. Sehr schade, das hat Laune gemacht und leider konnte ich dann auch nicht nach dem Namen fragen, aber jetzt ist der werte Herr als Drummer auf Rock The Cam.
On a cold January evening (16th) I had my first concert in 2012. It was on the streets of New York at Times Square when a drummer was in full action beating the rhythm out of the street and his plastic bucket. Unfortunately the NYPD (police) came around and put an end to the show. What a pity, this was interesting and made it impossible for me to find out the name of this man, therefore he is just called drummer on Rock The Cam.

Nachdem ich die Dame (Nika Roza Danilova alias Zola Jesus) zum Glück live sehen durfte ist nun Ihr Album dran. Zola Jesus mit Ihrem dritten Langspieler namens Conatus. Schönes Klappcover und schönes buntes Vinyl, farblich passend zu den Fotos auf der Plattenhülle plus ein weiterer Pluspunkt: mit Downloadcode. Was bei der Musik von Zolas Jesus heraussticht ist diese Ausnahmestimme, einfach mächtig Ihr Organ. Der Gesang kommt zur Geltung über elektronischer Musik, die manchmal ruhiger und manchmal unruhiger ist. Synthiesound der mich an Darkwave / Gothic erinnert, doch nicht auf früher gemacht, sondern modern. Gefällt mir.
Nika Roza Danilova known as Zola Jesus made a new record which is called Conatus. Nice Gatefold Cover and the vinyl is colored (white marbled) fitting the look of the cover. A download code is included in this Souterrain Transmission version which is another positive point. The music itself is electronic synthesizer sound, kind of modern dark wave / gothic. And over all there is this incredible voice of Zola Jesus. The songs have a touch of dark but not cold vibrations and the vocals are taking you into a spiral which drowns you into a whirlpool of strange but warm feelings. I like this Zola Jesus output!
