Alles ein bisschen dumm gelaufen an diesem Tag, zu spät losgekommen, Band angefangen, dummes Licht und das Ergebnis: es gibt heute nur ein Foto! Hier zu sehen ist die Band Waters beim Konzert im Backstage in München auf der Tour zusammen mit Nada Surf.

Da gab es einen Kurztrip nach Paris und was ist außer dem Eiffelturm noch wichtig? Ein Konzert! Es gab die PIAS Nites in einem Laden der sich Fleche D’Or nennt. Dort spielte das Chaos. Ich habe es nicht ganz verstanden, der Hauptakt waren Les Producteurs De Porcs, davor gab es auch noch was, aber es waren so mehr oder weniger die gleichen Leute am Start, das waren übrigens sehr viele da oben auf der Bühne. Jemand Nettes hat mir erklärt, dass der eine Sänger Christophe Salengro ist und dieser werte Herr ist Le President de Groland. Les Producteurs De Porcs sind angeblich die einzige Band aus Groland. Alles ziemlich durchgeknallt. Dann gab es noch Tony Truant, welcher der Gitarrist der Band Wampes wäre. Also an dem Abend hat er auch die Gitarre gespielt und auch seine Stimme klingen lassen. Dann gab es noch Didier Wampas, der hat wenn er dabei war gesungen. Irgendwann gab es eine Pause und ein Legende (in Paris) betrat die Bühne: Regine – was geht denn da ab? Regine ist bestimmt schon 80 Jahre jung und wurde vom Publikum ordentlich abgefeiert. Nach zwei Liedern ist Regine gegangen und dann gab es weiter die „wir haben Spaß auf der Bühne“ Show.
Abwechslung am Gesangspart, neue Gesichter, alte Gesichter, ein munteres und spaßiges Konzert. Franzosen halt, live meist ein Gaudi!
Irgendwie reiht sich das Les Producteurs De Porcs in die Reihe von durchgeknallten Konzerten ein, die ich im Punkbereich mit Franzosenbands bisher sehen durfte (Ludwig von 88, The Hatepinks).
One night in Paris for Rock The Cam and what is there to do besides taking a look at the Eiffel Tower? How about some live music? Yeah, of to a nice venue called Fleche D’Or. It was the [PIAS] Nites starring Les Producteurs De Porcs. But it was a nice chaos, French band – French crazyness! When I came in a band was playing, including Christophe Salengo who is the president of Groland, whatever this should be. Somebody nice told me these facts but I did not get the whole story. Anyway with the president on stage was Tony Truant who is the guitar player from a band called Wampas. On the microphone it was Didier Wampas, the singer of the Wampas. Forgot to mentioned, others were on stage as well, playing bass or another guitar.
Then a little break and a legend came on stage: Regine. She seems to be a legend in Paris and this was interesting, the people went crazy and this at least 80 year old woman sang two songs and the party was on. After she left the whole crazy bunch (Les Producteurs De Porcs) went on performing. The vocal people came and went, luckily some women performed as well…
Nice and crazy concert night, like so often with French Punk bands. I am not familiar with the French scene, but when I saw Ludwig von 88 live, The Hatepinks and now Les Producteurs De Porcs, they are all a bit off their head on stage.

Kennengelernt habe ich die Band o’Death über die „Head Home“ Platte auf City Slang, so hat es mich dann gefreut, dass ich bei meinem New York Trip ein Konzert von o’Death einplanen konnte. Gespielt haben o’Death dann eine Early Show im Le Poisson Rouge, was klasse war, denn es war ein neuer Laden für mich, eine tolle Vorband (Brown Bird) und dann auch das erste Mal o’Death live! Und die Jungs (Greg Jamie, Gabe Darling, Bob Pycior, Jesse Newman, Dan Sager und David Rogers-Berry) sind wirklich klasse abgegangen. Gute Laune Musik, gute Laune Publikum und eine Band mit guter Laune. An dem Abend haben mich o’Death auf der Bühne mal echt beeindruckt.
I got in touch with the band o’death through their „head home“ album out on City Slang. And while being in New York I was happy that I could catch o’death live during my stay. It was an early show at a new location for me called Le Poisson Rouge. Win win situation, new club, new band and after seeing these guys (Greg Jamie, Gabe Darling, Bob Pycior, Jesse Newman, Dan Sager and David Rogers-Berry) I was really in a good mood, cause it was a fantastic live gig this evening.

Als Vorband beim o’Death Konzert im Le Poisson Rouge in Manhatten konnte ich Brown Bird sehen. Brown Bird sind eine Frau (MorganEve Swain) am Kontrabass und je nach dem am Cello oder der Geige zusammen mit einem bärtigen Herrn (Dave Lamb), welcher Banjo oder Gitarre gespielt hat, dazu mit den Füßen Drums und obendrein noch der Sänger war. Beeindruckend diese Koordination. Gespielt habe Brown Bird ein Mischmasch aus Blues, Rock und American Folk, hat live Spaß gemacht.
The evening before getting home, I made it to another venue in New York (Le Poisson Rouge) which had two bands on the bill for the early show. Headliner was o’death and Brown Bird were there to open the concert. And hey, I really liked the Brown Bird live performance. Not much show but intense music! Brown Bird are coming from Providence and it is Dave Lamb who sings, plays guitar or banjo, does some percussion or playing drums with his feet and MorganEve Swain, playing the upright bass, or the cello, or the violin. Some mixture of American Folk, Rock and Blues and live a wonderful thing!
Da bin ich bei meinem Spaziergang zufälligerweise auf einen Second Hand Laden in Brooklyn gestoßen, von außen sah der nicht tolle aus, aber auch nicht schlecht. Hineingezogen hat mich der Werbeschriftzug „Records – Books – Collectibles“ und auch der Name war cool: THE THING – second hand shop. Und der Obere Stock ist na ja, aber dann näherte ich mich dem hinteren Teil und der Vinylgeruch lag in der Luft. Kisten voll mit dem schwarzen Gold (farbig wohl auch)…
Irgendwie überhaupt nicht sortiert und auch nicht wirklich mit Liebe aufbewahrt, aber die Menge. Ein Vinyljunkie gab mir einen verstehenden Blick und meinte, du musst schon lange suchen, aber das ein oder andere Schnäppchen gibt es. Dann habe ich mich an Ihm vorbeigedrückt und meine Fresse: es ging weiter, die Treppe runter und die Sammlerhölle zeigt sich. Zig Kisten und noch mehr Kisten! Da würde ich gerne mal 4 Monate Urlaub drinnen verbringen, unglaublich, da wird man fast erschlagen. Aber seht selbst. *
While strolling around in Brooklyn I came across a shop called THE THING – second hand shop. It did not look too good; it did not look too bad, but the sign outside stated as well: Records, Books, Collectibles. OK, with records I get weak. The front room was rather nothing but at the end there was vinyl. And a room packed full with vinyl! Not really lovely stored but still impressing. Some vinyl nerd told me that you have to dig deep but there are some great things to find. And in the back room there is a stair leading downwards and this is the collectors dream or a nightmare. What a huge amount of records, the cellar is almost completely filled up with baskets and shelves full of records. If you have about 4 months free time, get to THE THING and upgrade your record collection, what a place. *
