Was les ich da? Rival Schools haben ein neues Album und kommen wieder auf Tour? Sau geil, zur Freude gleich mal zur Singlekiste gegangen und die 2002 Used For Glue herausgeholt. Einfach eine starke Nummer von Walter Schreifels, Sammy Siegler, Ian Love, Cache Tolman. Auf der B-Seite ist dann The Sweet, was im direkten Vergleich etwas schwächer ist. Und dann? Dann natürlich das Album reingezogen und Freude!

What do I read here? Walter Schreifels and Rival Schools have a new LP? And are back on tour? Great news! So I fetched the Used For Glue 7” out of the box and it is just a great song. The Sweet on the b-side is not as good but still better than lots of other music around. What follows? Getting the album out and let it play on and on. This was a really great one and listening to it over again, it is still a great one.

Strike Anywhere

Coole Sache, Thomas Barnett -Gesang, Mark Miller -Gitarre, Matt Smith -Gitarre, Garth Petrie -Bass und Eric Kane –Schlagzeug sind besser bekannt als Strike Anywhere und waren als zweiter Headliner auf der Rise Against Tour gebucht, doch machte das Konzert in München die Krätsche (Brandschutzverordnung oder so was). Als dann Rock The Cam ins Kafe Kult kam, haben Strike Anywhere einfach dahin umgebucht! Finde ich sehr beeindruckend, Konzert fällt aus – Abend frei, nein: ab ins geile Loch Kafe Kult und ordentlich ein klasse Konzert hingelegt, gut war‘s. Hier sind einige Bilder von Strike Anywhere auf der kleinen Bühne im Kafe Kult.

Srtike Anywhere from Richmond Virginia USA should play the 2nd headliner at the Rise Against Tour in Germany. Due to the fact that the show in Munich was cancelled, Strike Anywhere just sneaked in at the The Third Memory show at the Kafe Kult. And Matt, Mark, Eric, Thomas and Garth did a good headliner job. Lots of party and fun and concert pictures for you.

DESCENDENTS – I’m The One – Epitaph

Schönes, blaues Vinyl und schöne vier Lieder auf der 7″ Single von Karl Alvarez, Milo Auckerman, Bill Stevenson und Stephen Egerton namens Descendents.
Los geht es mit dem Hit „I’m The One„, gefolgt von „Everything Sux“ (genau umgekehrt wie zu Beginn der Everything Sucks LP). Also haben wir zwei bekannte Lieder und auf der B-Seite die Goodies, es gibt „Lucky“ und „Shattered Milo„. I’m The One ist klasse (auch nach 14 Jahren noch ein melodiöser Überhit), Everything Sux ist heftiger, Lucky ist wieder ruhiger – fast schon Pop Punk, Shattered Milo dann wieder flotter. Descendents, so muss intelligenter Melodiepunk klingen, manchmal zuckersüß und dann wieder ins Härtere abdriftend.

DESCENDENTS - I’m The One Vinyl Cover

Nice blue Descendents vinyl and nice 4 songs on this 7″ single. It starts with a hit (even after 14 years it really gets me) called I’m The One followed by a faster tune named Everything Sux, both known from the LP Everything Sucks. On the b-side first it is Lucky which is quite calm, almost pop and last and least Shattered Milo, which picks up some speed again. To put the whole story into a nutshell, Descendents – yeah this is the way intelligent melody punk rock must sound like.

Die 2 Münchner Jungs von Mondo Ray (Hugorilla und Mondo) hatten nicht den einfachsten Job, nämlich kurzfristig für Dead Elvis einzuspringen. Dies taten Sie jedoch gut und waren ein korrekter Opener für The Monsters. Im ausverkauften 59:1 tobte der Mob sich schon mal ein.

Mondo Ray from Munich performed before The Monsters. The 59 to 1 was sold out and as it was a homerun for Mondo and Hugorilla (Mondo Ray) the party started not just with the mainact, fortunately!

Awesome Color

Als Vorband mit Dinosaur Jr. unterwegs zu sein ist auch nicht das Schlechteste. Nicht dass es einfach wäre, denn das Volk will schon den Hauptakt sehen, aber eine gute Chance bietet diese Gelegenheit dennoch. Diese haben Awesome Color in München auch genutzt und Ihren druckvollen Gitarrenrock von der Bühne gespielt und so den einen oder anderen im Publikum von Ihrer Musik überzeugt.

It isn’t the worst things that could happen, being on tour with Dinosaur Jr. And Awesome Color (Michael Troutman, Allison Busch, Derek Stanton) did a good opening job here in Munich. Awesome Color are on tour with their new album Electric Aborigines.

Jan Zehrfelds Panzerballett

Bisher nur darüber gelesen, jetzt aber habe ich Jan Zehrfelds Panzerballett beim KLANGfest in München live erleben und somit fotografieren dürfen. Was das Panzerballett so bietet ist schon harte Kost, ein ACDC Cover, Time Of My Life, ein Mitklatschfussball-song und das alles in einer eigenen Metal – Jazz Interpretation. Das neue Jan Zehrfelds Panzerballett heißt nicht zum Spaß: hart genossen, von ABBA bis Zappa.

I had just read about Jan Zehrfelds Panzerballett, but now I was able to catch them live on stage at the Black Box in Munich. And let me tell you, that is not easy listening. JZ PB play a fusion of metal and jazz and do cover popular songs (like ACDC and Rammstein) in their own special way.
