BEADY EYE – The Roller – Beady Eye Records

Hier nun die Oasis Nachfolgeband: Beady Eye. Was hat sich geändert? The Roller klingt irgendwie etwas älter, so Beatles mäßig, so wie Oasis halt auch schon geklungen haben und klingt irgendwie Oasis mäßig, kein Wunder. Wer Oasis mag/mochte für den passt dies auch, denn dies ist ja Oasis ohne Noel. Die einseitige 7“ Single gab es als Goddie zum Rolling Stone Magazin Ausgabe 197, so ne Art Sammlerscheisse, wie geil ist das denn? Vinyl!!!!

Take Oasis minus Noel and you have Beady Eye. The Roller on side A and on side B the signatures of the band. Some stupid collector item which was a goodie of the Rolling Stone magazine from March 2011. 7” vinyl, what a great thing, I love stupid collector items and I like the song.

RIVAL SCHOOLS – Used For Glue – The Island Def Jam Music Group

Was les ich da? Rival Schools haben ein neues Album und kommen wieder auf Tour? Sau geil, zur Freude gleich mal zur Singlekiste gegangen und die 2002 Used For Glue herausgeholt. Einfach eine starke Nummer von Walter Schreifels, Sammy Siegler, Ian Love, Cache Tolman. Auf der B-Seite ist dann The Sweet, was im direkten Vergleich etwas schwächer ist. Und dann? Dann natürlich das Album reingezogen und Freude!

RIVAL SCHOOLS - Used For Glue Vinyl Cover

What do I read here? Walter Schreifels and Rival Schools have a new LP? And are back on tour? Great news! So I fetched the Used For Glue 7” out of the box and it is just a great song. The Sweet on the b-side is not as good but still better than lots of other music around. What follows? Getting the album out and let it play on and on. This was a really great one and listening to it over again, it is still a great one.

DESCENDENTS – I’m The One – Epitaph

Schönes, blaues Vinyl und schöne vier Lieder auf der 7″ Single von Karl Alvarez, Milo Auckerman, Bill Stevenson und Stephen Egerton namens Descendents.
Los geht es mit dem Hit „I’m The One„, gefolgt von „Everything Sux“ (genau umgekehrt wie zu Beginn der Everything Sucks LP). Also haben wir zwei bekannte Lieder und auf der B-Seite die Goodies, es gibt „Lucky“ und „Shattered Milo„. I’m The One ist klasse (auch nach 14 Jahren noch ein melodiöser Überhit), Everything Sux ist heftiger, Lucky ist wieder ruhiger – fast schon Pop Punk, Shattered Milo dann wieder flotter. Descendents, so muss intelligenter Melodiepunk klingen, manchmal zuckersüß und dann wieder ins Härtere abdriftend.

DESCENDENTS - I’m The One Vinyl Cover

Nice blue Descendents vinyl and nice 4 songs on this 7″ single. It starts with a hit (even after 14 years it really gets me) called I’m The One followed by a faster tune named Everything Sux, both known from the LP Everything Sucks. On the b-side first it is Lucky which is quite calm, almost pop and last and least Shattered Milo, which picks up some speed again. To put the whole story into a nutshell, Descendents – yeah this is the way intelligent melody punk rock must sound like.

CROME – Needle – DIY

DIY 2007

Jetzt mal schauen was mich hier erwartet, eine drei Lieder (Needle, Lovetoy, Circus) Compact Disc der Band Crome. Was gibt es noch für Infos? Crome bestehen aus Denis Schneider (Gitarre und Gesang), Thorsten Wolf (Bass) und Patrick Arnold (Schlagzeug), aufgenommen wurde das Crome Werk im Juli/August 2007 und mastered by Lemmy (aha der Lemmy also).
Das Lied Needle geht los und irgendwie klingt das nach… ich komme nicht drauf. Stonerrock, Alice In Chains, Kyuss, irgendwie älter als 2007. Guter, klarer und auch fetter Sound: Die Stimme ist gut und auf dem treibenden Bass- und Schlagzeugsound thront die Gitarre.
Lovetoy hat einen ruhigeren Anfang, aber wenn es bratzt ist es besser, der Schluß zieht sich dann etwas.
Beim dritten Lied namens Circus kann mich die Stimme diesmal nicht so überzeugen (durchwachsen), das Lied selbst geht schon mehr ab und verdammt das erinnernt mich an was, ich komm einfach nicht drauf, verdammt, Life Of Agony, Saint Vitus? Zum Verrecken, das nervt mich jetzt noch den Rest des Abends, Danke Crome.

CROME - Needle - CD Cover

Here I got a 3 song CD from the band Crome recorded in 2007. Crome is Denis Schneider (voice/guitar), Patrick Arnold (drums) and Thorsten Wolf (bass). It has a good and clear sound. My favourite song is Needle. The music reminds me of other bands but I don’t figure out which ones. Alice In Chains, Kyuss, no a bit more Stonerrock, more like Life Of Agony or St. Vitus? Shit and thank you Crome, this will bother me the rest of the evening.

THE KABEEDIES – Come Out Of The Blue – nronerecords

Eine Single mit 2 Songs von The Kabeedies aus UK. Come Out Of The Blue ist ein schöner, leicht ins hektische abdriftender Popsong, hat was und dann der Refrain wenn die holde Frau Katie einsetzt. Song Nr. 2 namens Milk ist ein ruhiges Lied mit Männerstimme und im Hintergrund dann die Sängerin, dann kommt der Wechsel nach dem Refrain, und die Frauenstimme rückt in den Vordergrund. OK Ballade aber auf Dauer muss ich es nicht unbedingt haben. Ist raus auf nronerecords und bei so einem Titel natürlich auf blauem Vinyl. Was ich an der The Kabeedies 7″ Single etwas komisch finde, ist der Downloadcode, welcher halt nur für Come Out Of The Blue (die A-Seite) gilt. Warum?

This vinyl 7“ has two songs from The Kabeedies from UK. First one is Come Out Of The Blue and it is a nice pop song although it is not the radio mainstream kind, got something hectically but always melodic, interesting and when Mrs. Katie’s voice joins in – yeah good pop song. The second one is called Milk and it is a ballad which is nice but not more. Strange thing I have noticed is that this Kabeedies single got a download code, but just for side A, why is that? Anyway the record is out on nrone and one blue vinyl.

THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM – American Slang – SideOneDummy Records

Ja ja ich weiß, kein Mensch will mehr die millionste Plattenkritik zum Album von Gaslight Anthem namens American Slang lesen. Will ich auch gar nicht machen, will nur zeigen wie toll ich bin und dass ich das grüne Vinyl habe!
Ein wirklich gutes Stück, wer den Wechsel von Sink or Swim zu The ´59 Sound verkraftet hat (oder gut findet) der ist hiermit auch bestens bedient. Gutes Songwriting, catchy tunes und ab in die großen Hallen.

I know nobody wants another review of new LP from The Gaslight Anthem. Anyway I like it, if you could stick with the band through the change from Sink Or Swim to The´59 Sound, then you will be happy with American Slang, and yes good songs but I just wanted to show off with my green vinyl!

Winterabend und ich fühle mich leicht angeschlagen. Die Luft ist raus, die Kälte umhüllt das holde Heim. Pause, etwas zur Ruhe kommen, schön eingemummt sitze ich auf dem Sofa. Jetzt was ruhiges hören, einen musikalischen Film durch die Ohren ins Gehirn projektieren.
Die In The Nursery CD aufgelegt und Augen zu. Oh wahr, die Reise beginnt. Synthiesounds kreieren Landschaften auf denen verschiedene Arten von Empfindungen unterwegs sind. Percussion und Drumsounds ordnen die Gefühle, oft ein wenig melanchonisch, manchmal treibend; hinaus hinaus in die Weite der Welt, warm und sanft gleite ich dahin…

Evening, the light fades away and the cold creeps in. Just want to listen to some quite stuff. I switch on the In The Nursery CD called L’esprit and close my eyes. The film starts in my brain and the voyage begins. Decent drum sounds and keyboard melodies take my feelings to melancholic bright light of new inner freedom (what a new age description, hehehe).
